| Hagen's main railway
station, which was opened for public use in 1910, is a neo-Baroque hall
with a high clock tower by the architect Walter Morin. Osthaus, who had
called in vain for a building in the "New Style", was at least
able to ensure that the arch above the main entrance contained a stained
glass window designed by Jan Thorn-Prikker. The programmatic title
"The artist as teacher for trade and industry" underlines the
claim of Osthaus's comprehensive "artistic mission".
